The Zinser Law Firm, P.C. was founded in March of 1989. The Nashville, Tennessee-based boutique labor law firm represents Management exclusively, with nationwide clients stretching geographically from Hawaii to Vermont.
In the traditional labor law area, the firm represents Employers in litigation before the National Labor Relations Board and the U.S. Courts of Appeal. The firm also represents Employers in the labor arbitration of grievances filed under Collective Bargaining Agreements. Our attorneys have extensive experience acting as chief negotiator at the bargaining table, representing Employers in their negotiations with labor unions.
The firm has represented Employers in collective bargaining with unions including the Teamsters; Communication Workers of America; Newspaper Guild; United Auto Workers; United Steel Workers; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; Laborers International Union of North America; International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers; and International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.
The firm has also represented many Companies nationwide on the issue of whether an individual is an employee or an independent contractor, achieving numerous independent contractor victories. The firm has handled this issue in 40 of the 50 states, before the National Labor Relations Board, state unemployment agencies, state workers’ compensation agencies, and many state and federal courts.
Additionally, the firm represents Employers with respect to issues raised under Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964; the Americans with Disabilities Act; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act; the Pregnancy Discrimination Act; the Family Medical Leave Act; the Affordable Care Act; and similar issues before state discrimination agencies.
The firm also represents Employers in disputes under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The firm has often assisted Employers undergoing wage and hour audits and frequently advises Employers on how to comply with the minimum wage and overtime laws. The firm represents Employers defending class action lawsuitsunder state and federal wage and hour laws. Very recently, there has been a surge in requests for help in navigating the U.S. Department of Labor's final Overtime Rule, scheduled to go into effect on December 1, 2016.
The firm has vast experience defending the First Amendment rights of Employers before the National Labor Relations Board. The firm also helps Publishing Companies fight municipal ordinances that attempt to restrict their First Amendment rights to distribute their published newspapers.
